On a warm Winter’s day in November (because that’s mostly what we have in Texas, warm winter days), fellow creative and mama-to-be Meredith, the creative director of Cake & Confetti, gathered a few of her creative cohorts at Nancy Aidee Photography‘s adorable studio for a kids Christmas party like no other. Who says Christmas parties have to be red and green?
The table was set, the snacks were hung (yes, hung… scroll down to see!) and the florals were seriously on point. Naomi, my 4 year old, was in absolute heaven, practically tearing the snacks off the perfectly-positioned dessert tree before photographer extraordinaire Ailee of Snapshots and My Thoughtscould get a single shot. It was a magical day for the kids and for the mamas, watching our girls snack and play together in such a beautiful setting.
Ailee’s daughter Isla was there too, as was Miss Jamie, Jenny of Houston Tidbits’ daughter. The girls played together so well, and the day even ended in group hug. Doesn’t get better than that. Today we’re outlining how to throw the perfect kids Christmas party for your little ones so you’ll have all your bases covered this holiday season.
Snag the Cutest Outfits
When friend and creative superwoman Meredith from Cake & Confetti asked us to be a part of this shoot, naturally we jumped at the chance for two reasons. 1) We love styling little ladies in our Holiday ’17 collection and 2) Naomi will gladly be a part of any shoot in which she gets to eat the decor.
We gave each little lady her very own holiday dress to match the gorgeous decor, and not only were they cute, but they were comfy and ready to twirl. I love that these dresses are cute enough for church or that special holiday party, but soft and breathable enough for them to run around playing tag in, which they did before we started shooting!
Stock the Right Snacks
Even simple things like donut holes and macarons are party-perfect when they’re hung from a tree. That donut tree had the girls salivating from the very beginning. It’s a fun and interactive way to serve them, so cute for the holiday season.
The cookies, created by cookie guru Miss J’s Bakeshop, sat perfectly on the rim of each hot chocolate. Such a cute little detail! And they’re delicious too; I know from experience. Remember the adorable unicorn cookies from Naomi’s 2nd birthday party? Guess where they’re from? <3
And the drinks are as important as the food. These beautiful pink hot chocolates overflowing with marshmallows really hit the spot and made the bar cart look gorgeous. Meredith really nailed it with the menu.
Design the Perfect Decor (and You Can DIY It!)
Can you say STUNNING? That’s how I’d describe every last detail. The most incredible detail of all was the DIY peg board Christmas tree, created by Mibellarosa Designs, based here in Houston. Not everyone has space for a giant tree; this is a great way to incorporate gorgeous holiday decor without taking up a ton of room. She accented the tree with decorative gifts.
That bar cart though, right? Meredith DIYed it herself, painting it that perfect shade of turquoise. And she accented it with dishes and blankets you might have lying around the house to dress it up.
Set the Table
And who can resist a tablescape like that? Pink and turquoise are one of my favorite color combos, and with pops of gold and metallic pink, the table comes alive for the holidays. Drinking milk out of frosted milk jugs rimmed with sprinkles, and eating with gold flatware just makes party time more fun.
